“Many humans believe themselves to be the most important human on the planet. We can never go wrong by treating others as if they are.” -Clark Smith

Clark’s philosophy can be summed up succinctly: “We rise by lifting others.” This guiding principle is evident in every aspect of his work, making him not just a financial advisor but a trusted teammate in his clients’ journeys toward a fulfilling retirement.

Clark brings more than three decades of experience and a heartfelt passion for helping clients navigate the next chapter of their lives. Since founding Golden Years Financial in 2025, he has been dedicated to crafting retirement plans that go beyond numbers. He focuses on helping clients live full lives and leave lasting legacies.

Clark’s journey in the financial industry began in 1990 after earning his MBA from Mississippi State University. His career quickly gained momentum as he became the youngest retirement strategy specialist at Dean Witter Reynolds by 1993. Over the years, he held leadership roles at prestigious firms like Prudential Securities, UBS and Woodridge Capital Portfolio Management, where he also managed a hedge fund.

In 2000, Clark completed the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) education program through the Wharton School of Business. He held the designation until 2007, but does not currently maintain it. After a brief retirement, Clark returned to the industry with renewed purpose, serving as a senior financial advisor and director of retail operations in St. Louis. His commitment to mentorship shone through as he led advisor training programs, shaping the next generation of industry leaders.

Clark’s approach to retirement planning is deeply personal. Having experienced the profound loss of his eldest son in 2015, he gained a unique perspective on life’s fragility and the importance of living with purpose. This perspective fuels his desire to create retirement plans that empower clients to embrace their passions, make lasting memories and leave meaningful legacies.

Clark is a proud seventh-generation Canton, Mississippi, resident, where he lives with Rai, his wife of 40 years, and their two Shih Tzus, Tobie Grey and Penny Lane. The couple raised three sons: Daniel is a successful architect and his twin, Patrick, is a chemical engineer. Their son Stuart passed away in 2015 at the age of 24.

Outside of the office, Clark enjoys gardening and fishing, and he carries a lifelong passion for the game of baseball.
